Ancora Ministries is all about kids and their families. Our primary goal is to meet the physical needs of healthy food and safety that will help the children we serve reach their potential, both in Guatemala and in Central Texas.
We have 51 children enrolled in our nutrition program in the rural area outside of Cuilapa, about 50 miles south of Guatemala City, and 52 children enrolled in nutrition programs in communities in and around Guatemala City. The nutrition programs provide a daily supplement containing all of the vitamins and minerals essential to brain growth and physiological development to children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years.
Every Friday, we send "backpack bags" of food home with 50 students in Hays County, TX. These bags contain enough food to provide for every meal over the weekend (plus snacks and some extras for sharing with siblings), so that the students have enough to eat until they are back at school for breakfast on Monday morning.
We provide nearly 400 meals each month to senior citizens in San Miguel Petapa, an urban community just outside of Guatemala City. These individuals are unable to work and do not have family close by to support them.
In Texas, we helped 1200 people – over 300 families - by providing more than 11,000 meals in the past year through HaysHope2Go, local church programs, and emergency assistance after the winter storm in February 2021.
OUR TOTAL IMPACT SINCE 2020:
Our work in remote villages in Guatemala has skyrocketed, and we have reached the tipping point for needing a 4WD. This will help us serve communities that are nearly inaccessible.
