Over 1.6 million children in Guatemala are impacted by malnutrition.
In the communities where we work, nearly 75% of children are malnourished when we come in. But after 12 months in our Preschool Nutrition Program, that number drops to less than 2%.
Being malnourished is more than just hunger; it is a lack of micronutrients - the essential vitamins and minerals a child needs to develop and flourish properly. Our Preschool Nutrition Program provides the micronutrients necessary for children in Guatemala to reach their full potential, changing the trajectory of a child’s life.
Our work goes beyond food intake and nutrition. We also address community health issues safe drinking water. open cook fires that leave children inhaling smoke for hours each day, and lack of bathrooms. Water filters, latrines, and safe cookstoves greatly improve health and safety outcomes for the families in our communities.

Preschool Nutrition Programs in 17 communities in the central, eastern, and western regions of Guatemala. We have seen malnutrition rates go from 73% to 0% after 12 months in the program.

School Lunch programs in 2 communities, with more on the way. In addition to providing a hot and healthy lunch for children from preschool to 6th grade – our school lunch programs have also led to significant increases in school enrollment, attendance, and performance.
Boosting Nutrition & Health
We are feeding more than 800 children each month through our nutrition and feeding programs. Along with nutrition, we have found that access to clean water and regular doses of anti-parasite medication help to promote optimal health.
Improving Water Quality & Accessibility
To date, we have provided access to clean water for more than 4000 people in 14 communities, and we offer anti-parasite treatment every 6 months to children under age 13 in our partner communities.
